Kiran gets Asian Award

New Delhi May 5 Mrs Kiran Bedi, a senior IPS
officer, has been honoured with the Asia Region Award for outstanding service by the Norway based
International Organisation of Good Templars (IOGT) for her contribution to prevent narcotic supply
and abuse.
Mrs Bedi, who is currently posted in Mizoram as Deputy
Inspector General of Police (Range) was also given the National Award for outstanding service by a
Government official by IOGT.
The awards were given in Trivandrum on Wednesday at the
inaugural function of the regional seminar for SAARC countries on the challenges in the UN decade
against drug abuse.
The awards were decided by IOGT's Regional Council of
South and South East Asia on the basis of an opinion poll in which Mrs Bedi had received
nominations from members from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. |
