Books :

There is a Biography on my Life, in a book form called ‘I  Dare!’ published by UBS Publishers.  Its also translated into Hindi, Malyalam, Marathi, Telugu, Kannada and Punjabi.

Authored a book called ‘It’s Always Possible’ on the transformation of one of the largest prison in the world.  It is accompanied by with a CD ROM with the same title produced by India Vision Foundation.

Another Biography on my life entitled "The Kindly Baton" authored by a psychologist and a research scholar, Mrs. Meenakshi Saxena has been published by Books India International.  

A Book  on e-governance titled, "Government@net" co-authored with Sandeep Srivastava and Parminder Jeet Singh published by Sage Publications.  This book provides a framework – political, sociological, technological and financial – to enable people, politicians, administrators and private enterprise to secure an unprecedented developmental impetus. "

Contributing a fortnightly column titled "What Went Wrong" in the Times of India and Navbharat Times, both leading dailies of Delhi. This column is a narration of real life cases in which the subjects share about their wrong doings in the past in order to Save the Next Victim.

"What Went Wrong" a compilation of 37 real life stories has been recently published by UBS Publishers Distributors Ltd. The book, a best seller was sold out on the first day of its release and has had a first re-print in the first week of its publication.

"Galti Kiski" the Hindi version of "What Went Wrong" has been published by Fusion Books, New Delhi.

serial by the same name is being telecasting on the National Network where in each episode dramatizes an unique saga of the as the stories in the book " Galti Kiski "

AS I See : All proceed of this book will continue to go to Navjyoti and India Vision Foundation , for education of the children in need.  

CAREER :

                

Joined the Indian Police Service in 1972 (the first woman officer in India to do so). Undertook various assignments, notable among them being following:

1.      District Police, Delhi Traffic Police during  the Ninth Asian Games in Delhi.       

2.      Special Traffic Police in Goa during Commonwealth Heads of  Government Meet.

3.      Deputy director Narcotics, Control Bureau

4.      Deputy inspector general (range) Mizoram

5.      Inspector general of prisons, Tihar Jail, New Delhi

6.      Special secretary to the lieutenant governor of Delhi

7.      Joint commissioner, Delhi Police

8.      Inspector general of Police, Chandigarh

9.      Joint commissioner of police (training), Delhi Police.

10.   Special commissioner of police (training), Delhi Police.

11.   Civilian police adviser to the secretary-general, UN, in the Department of  Peace-keeping  

         Operations.

12.  Director Journal of home guard and Civil Defense.

13.  Director Journal Bureau and Police Research and Development. 

Sought voluntary retirement from service wef from December, 26th 2007. (Over 18 months prior to completion of service)

Cost free residential therapeutic community based treatment and interventions for alcohol and drug dependents (treated  by now, over 12,000 drug dependents).  

  • Creches, Primary & Gali Schools for slum children  

  • Vocational and literacy centres for women and adolescents

  • Creche training programmes for women in the prison  

Navjyoti was awarded the U N based Serge Sotiroff Memorial Award 1999 on International nominations for its  pioneering work in the field of Drug Abuse prevention and treatment.  This award was received on 26th June, 1999, the International Day against Drug Abuse.

Navjyoti has also received the Delhi Government sponsored State Award for its work in the field of education and rehabilitation of destitute children.
