Mizoram police give efforts to control
drug abuses

During the month of April, Mizoram police arrested 272 drunkards primarily from the streets of
Aizawl, recovered 700 litres local ZU, 572 bottles of foreign liquor and 29 tins of fermented
rice. It forwarded to the Excise Department for investigation, 42 such cases of liquor sellers
from whom these recoveries where made. As regards action against drugs, 19 persons were arrested
which led to the recovery of over 480 tablets of Diazepam, Nitrazapam, Proxyvon etc. Deputy
S.P. Narcotics, John Neihlaia and Inspector, Narcotics Daniela addressed over 1500
children of 3 Aizawl Schools namely Central High School, Hrangehhuana High School and
J.L. High School and showed video films at Ramhlun North and in one of the schools as Education
against Drug Abuse. Reformation of past criminals continued; 115 past criminals, attended
