Being a good cop does reap
rich dividends as Constable Ranbir Singh of the Kingsway Camp police station discovered. He
was promoted out of turn to the rank of head constable on Thursday because his alertness had saved
an armed robbery in the house of Mr Om Prakash of Gupta Colony on September 22 this year.
So impressed were the residents of Ranbir Singh’s
beat in the Vijay Nagar area, that they vociferously demanded the highest possible reward for the
constable. The photograph shows his DCP, Mrs Kiran Bedi, and his ACP, Mr Ujjwal Misra
pinning the coveted head constable stripes on his shoulders.
